FUKUSHIMA REMEMBERED
Protest Continued Risky and Costly Operation of San Onofre Nuclear Waste Plant ---++ On March 11 -- Fukushima Daiichi Disaster Anniversary
- Had a great turnout -- about 300 people, which was about all the cleared area could hold. Guests from Fukushima area of Japan were well covered by media, and we had a great lineup of speakers. The whole event ended pretty much on time.
- Video will up uploaded soon. Thank you to Jason Snyder for livestreaming (and Chris McKay/Fish too, right?)
- Thank you especially to Marcia Patt for coordinating the bus transportation to the event, Carol Jahnkow and the Peace Resource Center for underwriting it, and Gene Stone of San Clemente for arranging for the Japanese visitors, directional signs, and native American blessings.
- Park Rangers and Law Enforcement, thank you too, even though the number of officers on duty was far more than necessary, as usual. (Yes, I know you read this too.)
- Thank you to Charlie Imes and Reverend Stickman for their pre-event live entertainment, and the Occupella Chorus for the mid-event entertainment.
- Thank you to all the other speakers: Ace Hoffman, Mimi Kennedy, Gary Headrick, Cory Schumacher, Gene Stone, Kent Nesplay, Torgen Johnson, Dave Patterson, Patti Davis, Jerry Tetelman, and Dick Eiden.
- Mark your calendars for April 28 for possible follow-on event to commemorate the anniversary of Chernobyl
- If they try to restart the plant, please be ready for immediate action. This plant must never restart!

- Review of livestream showed 0.015 mR/hr which is about 1.31 mSv/Yr. The legal maximum ABOVE BACKGROUND is 1mSv/yr. So depending on what the background radiation is, this is right at or perhaps slightly over the legal maximum. The typical background radiation is about 3mSv/yr. Depends on how the device is calibrated, that is, perhaps the background is already zeroed out.
