EAST COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CLUB POISED FOR GROWTH; ELECT NEW SLATE OF OFFICERS
Raymond Lutz, East County businessman, was elected President of the East County Democratic Club Sunday evening, February 26th at the home of Rev. Peter Moore-Kochlacs in downtown El Cajon.
Moore-Kochlacs, Immediate Past President of the Club, stepped down to run for Congress in the 52nd district in the Democratic Primary election, which will be held in June. The winner of the Democratic Primary will face Congressman Duncan Hunter in the general election in November.
“I think the election of Raymond Lutz signals a future of strong new leadership for the Club,” Moore-Kochlacs said. “I believe the East County Democratic Club is poised for rapid expansion. Raymond brings the vision and direction needed to motivate voters to become active in local politics.”
"East County Democrats and many voters of other parties have had enough of rampant corruption and upside-down fiscal policy," Lutz said. "The Democratic Party is our best hope to put our country back on track. Local issues will also be a key focus as our club continues to grow by leaps and bounds."
Derek Casady, another Democratic primary candidate in the 52nd Congressional District who attended the meeting, said, “I can think of no better person than Raymond Lutz to lead this Club at a time when more and more voters are questioning White House policies and are looking to the Democratic Party for answers. I think Raymond has the leadership skills, the commitment to Democratic values and the experience to move this Club ahead." Casady has close ties with the East County Democratic Club as his parents were Club leaders in the sixties.
The Club meets on the fourth Sunday of each month. The next meeting will be at 7p.m., Sunday, March 26th, at a private residence. The program will consist of planning for upcoming local, State and National elections. All Democrats and disenchanted Bush voters are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
