Instructions For Bulk Mailing

Instructions and notes about doing bulk mailings.

  1. Print mail pieces. Either use mailing labels or print the name of the recipient directly on the mailing piece using Mail Merge.
  2. You should know the count of pieces in the mailing. Unless you have a significant number of pieces outside the 920/921 area, use first-class postage for these.
    • Otherwise, we have to purchase a yellow plastic strap to bind the mailing boxes.
  3. Access Form 3602-EZ, print this and fill out as follows:

    • Mailing:
      • Post Office of Mailing: El Cajon
      • Permit No.: 87
      • Weight of a single piece: (weigh 10 pieces and move decimal)
      • Type of Postage: Permit Imprint
      • Statement Seq. No. : ??
      • No. & Type of Container: Usually 1 1ft Tray
      • Mailing Date: (date)
      • Processing Category: Letters
      • Total Pieces
      • Total Weight: (Multiply the single-piece weight by the total number).
    • Postage
      • Part D - Letters - 3.3 oz or less
        • D1 - AADC - (Enter the count of all pieces destined for San Diego (920/921) area, and multiply by piece price.)
        • D2 - Mixed AADC - (Count of pieces for non 920-921 & multiply by piece price.)
      • Total Postage - Add up.
  4. Take form (both pages) to the post office, to the rear "Weighmaster" desk
  5. Place mail in trays. If tray is at least 3/4 full, do not use rubber bands. Front of tray has label slot.
  6. Give trays and covers to weighmaster and he will check it over. Insert proper labels into slots.
  7. Pay and get receipt. It's OK to pay over the amount needed as it stays on account.
