City Of El Cajon Commissions Appointments For 2007

FILING PERIOD: October 10, 2007 - November 15, 2007 Interview and Appoint Applicants: November 27, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.

BACKGROUND: The following Commissions have vacancies or terms expiring January 31, 2008. The term for the Gillespie Field Development Council vacancy expires March 18, 2011.

Commission on Aging & Disabilities

• Vacancies: Three Commissioners, Fred Cicalo, Janet Light and Pat Mc Donnell
• Duration: Four-Year terms will expire January 31, 2012
• Requirements: Applicants must be a resident of the City for not less than one year prior to appointment and continue to reside in the City during the term of office. Appointees must be at least 19 years of age, and the age of two of the members of the commission shall be not less than 55 years of age at the time of appointment.

Parks & Recreation Commission

• Vacancies: One Commissioner, Sharon Dobbins
• Duration: Four-Year Term will expire January 31, 2012
• Requirements: Applicants must be a resident of the City for not less than one year prior to appointment and continue to reside in the City during the term of office. Council shall appoint one member of the Commission, from candidates recommended by the Board of Trustees of the Cajon Valley Union School District.

Personnel Commission

• Vacancy: Two Commissioners, Mark Martindale and Bob Nelson
• Duration: Four-year terms will expire January 31, 2012
• Requirements: Applicants must be a resident of the City for not less than one year prior to appointment and continue to reside in the City during the term of office. (Applicants nominated by the employee associations are not subject to this requirement.) Council shall make this appointment directly.

Planning Commission

• Vacancies: One Commissioner, Tom Black
• Duration: Four-Year Term will expire January 31, 2012
• Requirements: Applicants must be a resident of the City for not less than one year prior to appointment and continue to reside in the City during the term of office. Planning Commissioners are required to file a Form 700 according to provisions of the Political Reform Act, the Fair Political Practices Commission, and the City's Conflict of Interest Code.

Public Safety Facility Financing Oversight Committee

• Vacancies: Two vacancies, Mario Tilaro (resigned) and one unfilled vacancy
• Duration: One vacancy to fill duration of term to expire January 31, 2011 and one previously unfilled vacancy with a term to expire January 31, 2011
• Requirements: The committee is comprised of seven members in certain occupations and/or categories. One available seat must be filled with a resident of the City and one available seat may be filled with a member residing outside the City limits (terms expiring January 31, 2011).

Gillespie Field Development Council

• Vacancy: One member, Jeff Hurley (resigned)
• Duration: One vacancy to fill duration of term to expire March 18, 2011
• Requirements/General Information: Members must have expertise and experience in such fields as real estate, finance, industrial development, aviation, or other fields related to the development program for Gillespie Field and have a demonstrated interest in the economic viability of the Field. According to the Agreement between the County and the City (Resolution No. 104-74), three members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and are ratified by the City Council. Two members are appointed by the City Council and ratified by the Board of Supervisors. Members are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700) with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
